The response to How To Disappear has been overwhelming. I want to take a moment to thank you for purchasing a future copy and for believing in something without seeing it. It means a lot to me that my past work is responsible for your trust in what I am producing, and my goal is not to disappoint you.
Right now, I am preparing for the online performances part of the VIP Experience and slowly collecting data from the questionnaires. It's exciting to see it all coming to life, as part of this collective interaction between me and you. It's incredibly refreshing to me to know that the result of this project is not entirely under my control. One could argue that's the same in a show, where the audience dictates part of what the experience ends up being. But in this case, it feels different. The equivalent would be as if I didn't know what words I would say on stage when I step into the spotlight. As I write this post, I have no idea what I will be writing in two specific chapters of the book. If you are curious, you will have to wait.
I've also received a few emails from different people about the unpolished videos I am sharing, expressing how much they have enjoyed seeing the raw nature of magic in action. When I started this project, I was not 100% sure if I should do it or not. Part of me doesn't want to put out unfinished pieces, as in most cases they do more harm than good to the craft. In this particular case, I wanted to use these as a medium to talk about other topics related to the construction of show/narrative/experience, and seeing them as they are is helpful in this context. If the result is not the desired one, at least I know my heart was in the right place.
And now, I will dive back into the preparation for the online performances/experience.
